George Lade
« on: Wednesday 26 September 07 15:43 BST (UK) »

I am trying to complete my maternal family history and have got stuck.

George Lade born: 1863  in Warbleton
                     married: 1892 in Warbleton
                     spouse: Mary Walker
                     born:1854 in Dallington
                     son: Henry J Lade
                     born: 1888 Hurstmonceux
                     son: George H Lade
                     born:1893 Warbleton
                     died: 1949 Suffolk

George H Lade jnr was married to a Mildred Barber(2nd wife)

My mother recollects that her father George jnr's brother was from his father's previous marriage if this is correct then who was she? Any information would be great!

Hi
Hmm see what you mean about the sticking point Cheesy
Is it Henry J's birth you are looking for? He doesn't show on FreeBMD so if you haven't already done so you will need to check the full registers for 1888 +/- 2
You have the family in 1901, I take it this is where you got the info you already have. I thought I would look in 1891 for you but as yet haven't found Henry or his father Huh I'll go back and have another look.

Hi sswarby,

Could Henry have been Mary's child?   FreeBMD has this birth:

Walker  Henry John H  Mar 1888   Hailsham   2b   94

Hailsham would include Hurstmonceaux.

Do you have the marriage cert of George (b1863) and Mary Walker (b1854)? Mary could have been a widow.

I have only information regarding George (1863) and Mary (1854)  think they were married 9 july 1892 but that was from another resource who I am still trying to get back in touch with as he has Mary Walker as daughter of Henry Walker 1816 and George as son of Tilden Lade 1838. Having trouble with ancestor.co.uk at mo so this is also a sticking point with free bmd. My funding is very short at the mo too!

Hi again

You're quite right - you do need to confirm with the marriage certificate - but the info turned up so far is looking good. Does look as if Henry John was son of unmarried Mary rather than George, which may mean you get stuck with the actual father. Anyway post the details when you get the certificate.
