Hello Joe
Hope this helps. I deciphered most of my grandmother's entry from 1914
No. of <?> ticket Amount of cash held Name in Full Age of Adults (male & female columns) Dependants under 14 years (male & female columns) Married, Single or Widowed Have you visited in Canada before If so (when, where & how long columns) Do you intend to permenantly reside in Canada Are you able to read Are you able to write Country of Birth Race of People Destination (Post Office & Province columns) What was your occupation in country from which you came What is your intended occupation in Canada Have you been trained <?> - I haven't deciphered column 24 completely as of yet, but it has to do with training or work experience in their employment/profession If so (Which, How Long & When columns) Religious Demonination Travelling (found to often be abbreviations for railways such as GTR i.e. Grand Trunk Railroad)
Cheers, Linda

This is a sort of sideways query ... but relevant !
I just noticed your query when I was trying to find where I had found passenger lists before. I FORGOT TO BOOKMARK IT !
I can find the pay to view sites, but I'm not paying for masses of units when I know I found a free one previously ! Any ideas where I must have looked ??

First you look at the pay-per-view site to get the year and dest. port, then you go to Archives Canada to troll thru the pages.
If this is what you mean, here's the sites:-

Trolling through those ships manifest sheets will make you eyes stick out on stalks
See if you can't get some kind soul to look them up for you.
Unfortunately, the archives only go up to a certain year (early 20's I think).

Nice one Karen

My Grandpa Stanley has the hanky in his pocket

Hi Genie,
A goog trick that someone posted, shoot I forget who it was Anyways look at www.ancestorsonboard.com and find the year, departure and arrival. Then go to the LAC site and put the information in, you will get a list of ships arriving then, so then go gack to ancestors on board ship and put your persons name in and go through each ship that came up on the list and eventually they will show up, so you then know what ship it was and you just have to narrow down the dates. Does that makes, it does in my head as I'm typing
