Bandriggate - where is it?
« on: Wednesday 26 September 07 20:43 BST (UK) »

I'm hoping someone with local knowledge might be able to help me locate Bandriggate.

The Heversham parish record entry for the baptism of Rebecca Docker in 1743 gives her father's details as

Edward Docker of Bandriggate.

I've looked on maps and tried googling it, but I can't find it!

Is it a place or an area of Heversham?

Help!   Huh

Thanks Ambly. I think you've found it.

I tried looking for Bendrigg Fellgates on the map with no luck, but as the site you mentioned said that this person was born there but baptised at Killington, I assume they must be very close to each other - and Killington is only about 10-12 miles from Heversham.

It looks as if it's yet another case of the parish clerk writing down what he thinks he heared!!

Thanks for the help.
