Good question! Don;t know but you'll find most things here saying they are national don't include Scotland. Find my past being a good example

No cos Scotland has it;s own Government site so we are sorted. And it provides online copies of the BMDs and OPRs rather than having to send off for them.

Personally I think we get a better deal cos no waiting to ambush the postman and it's cheaper for the certs too

Not that I'm an expert - but I gather they get some good things. Apparently they get much more information on their marriage certificates, I was told and can download them for £1 - anyway that's what they said on Sunday at the WDYTYA live show.

Paulene

For anything 1855 onwards you get heaps of info onbirth, death and marriage certs. Parents names and maiden surnames etc all for just over £1. The OPRs are not as good - depends on how church kept the records tho on a baptism you'll get parents names. On marriage banns you don't normally get parents names. And of course no death certs pre 1855 alas!

But still good value. Would be lost without it

Hi Ann,
Thanks for that bit of information, Ann - it's always good to pick up bits of information that might help others find their way. That's what we all try to do isn't it. Happy hunting! Smiley

Yes, I thought that, too, Ann. I'm still hope there might be some Scottish link in ours somewhere - red hair on both sides! You just never know!
