I am told on this fantastic site that there is a tablet inside Plaitford Parish Church dedicated to James & Margaret Anne Cocks. I would be very grateful if someone could kindly either give me the detail from the tablet or maybe put me in-touch with someone who can. Maybe I could write to the vicar?
It does not exactly answer your question, but it is the Hampshire County Council web site and does have a 'contact us' section, so they should be able to help you.
It does mention what you are looking for.
The Shoe. Built on the site of the turn-pike, the last keeper J. Cocks, died in 1862, a tablet in Plaitford Church is dedicated to the memory of Mr. Cocks and his wife. The Shoe was also formerly a posting station for the mail coach.
Good luck Heather

Thanks Heather, Valda kindly gave me that information yesterday from a query I had on the Hampshire board. I was hoping to find a Rootschatter who is likely to visit the church or who knows the address of the vicar maybe. I doubt that the council would be keen to send a man out, but I might try it as a last resort. Perhaps I'll say the road is flooded outside the church & by the way while your there!! Thanks again Kay
