it's excellent that you found the baptism, but the marriage might be a problem- looks like there's a gap in the parish records for Martletwy

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/PEM/Martletwy/index.html#ChurchRecords

but the BTs exist and have been filmed by the LDS - you'd need to order them up at your nearest LDS centre or ask someone who is going to the National Library to look for you - the Library itself does not do look-ups.

As to James Llewhellyn or Llewellyn's service at the Dockyard and details of his family see Richard Rose's 'Pembroke People', Otterquill Books, 2000.  This also gives details of J. L.'s fellow workers at the Dockyard in 1820. See www.otterquillbooks.com

I hope this is useful.  Abergynolwyn

Hi Abergynolwyn

Thanks for the information on the book which I did'nt know of. Have checked out prices on the internet and its quite expensive to buy. Will check the local libraries to see if they keep a copy.

Many thanks for taking the time to help me.

James Llewellyn who was a shipwright. He had a son David born about 1809 with the census records showing he was born in Pembroke.
If it helps I have index'd all Parish registers for Pembroke St Mary and St Michael 1711 to the 1950's. I can confirm that David is not listed in either, if I can help further just let me know, will willing supply what I can to assist your research.
Like the Avtar, my wife's Pembroke ancestoral relations where Sweeps in Pembroke and the Dock, by coincidence she also does talks on them for her own interest and no reward.

Hi

Thank you for your offer of assistance but you have already kindly helped me to look for the Llewellyns and we were in e mail contact in 2007 and 2008. In fact we met at a FH Fair in the Maritime Museum in Swansea where I had a chat with your wife about chimney sweeps.

What I have been hoping to find was the marriage of James Llewellyn and Elizabeth to see if her maiden name was Granna (you said this was a corruption of Gronow). It appears the marriage records for Martletwy for around 1813-1816 are missing so it looks as if this is just one brickwall that remaims standing.

Thanks again for your interest

May I suggest (if not a little late) Correy = Carew and Larmy = Lamphey.

A note for your diary. Swansea Maritime is on the 14th Nov, you are most welcome to freely search and record from any and all of the doc’s I shall have there. I hope to concentrate my display on Pembrokeshire Military Headstones 1722 to 2006. My wife will not be there she is in Australia.

Whilst at Llanion Cemetery yesterday researching ex-serviceman's headstones I came across these two headstones to the Llewellyn's, which I hope may be of interest to this thread;
Section S Plot 427 David & Sarah Llewellyn & Section P Plot 84 George Llewellyn son of James & Eliza of Front Street.

Many thanks for the photos.... not sure about Sarah Jane and David.

George though is I believe part of the family as the family is shown on census records living in Front Street Pembroke Dock. I first thought it was James senior born c1783 who had a wife Elizabeth and a son George but the age of George at death does not match. So I suspect it must be his son James  Junior baptised 1819 who must have married an Eliza and had a son George although I have not confirmed this yet.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me

Arthur & Eliza A. Panton who appear to be related to the Llewellyn's.

Have checked the online records and it appears Eliza A Panton, nee Llewellyn, was the sister of George.
