Hi, Trying to unravel the mystery of my grandfather x3, Charles Aslett. He was born about 1811/812 in Stockbridge. On the census returns he states that this is in Kent (1851) and in Surrey (1861) but the only Stockbridge I can find is in Hampshire! He married Margaret Chapelhow (nee Brown), a widow, from Shap in Westmorland on 15/9/1845, the certificate states that his father was Thomas Aslett. He spells his surname, Asclete on the certificate but its spelt Aslett from then on. He died, aged 58 on 9/4/1869 in Sunderland. Would love to know more about him prior to his marriage, I can't trace him on the 1841 census and no nothing about his birth. Any help would be most appreciated !!
Sue
