Does anyone know anything of the Rosemeath Castle Fire of 1911??
Do you mean Rosneath/Roseneath Castle?
It seems to have had several fires (1802 and 1947) but can't see a mention of one in 1911.

Hi Martin,
Thank you for replying I will check of the spelling I am from Ontario Canada, my father told me the story as follows His mother(who passed away when he was young) was presented a small brass oval box with feet about 6" high. Inscribed on it : Presented to Phyllis Bryson by Duke and Duchess of Argyll on the occasion of the 1911 fire at Rosemeath Castle which Phyllis Bryson bravey saved our children. Been missing since about 1936?? I may be wrong on the spelling I will check Thanks

In 1911, the Duke and Duchess of Argyll were John Campbell (1845 - 1914) and Princess Louise (1848 - 1939), daughter of Queen Victoria. However, they didn't have any children.

The original castle burnt down in 1802 and a new house was built which also had a fire in 1947 then was demolished in the 1960s. You can see some pictures of this second house on CANMORE

The main seat of the Duke of Argyll was Inverary so don't know what they used Rosneath for or whether it was occupied by someone else in the family. It is possible that there was a fire and the children of another family member was saved.
It might be worth seeing if the present Duke of Argyll has an archivist who might have some information, there is a contact EMail address on their website.

Thanks All, For the information regardins Roseneath Castle, I have been researching this myself, and I saw that Duke and Duchess of Argyll did not have children. My father was young when his mother died and all he remember was the brass box she had. I guess his memory of what was on it is not clear at all. It was a childhood memory? Thanks again.
