Marjory Gillies - Applecross???
« on: Friday 05 October 07 17:39 UTC (UK) »

Hi,
I hope someone can help me.
I'm trying to find information on the parents of Marjory Gillies who according to her census records was born in Applecross.
Born - Marjory Gillies c1850,
Married - Angus Morrison (b-c1846 North Uist) on 06 Dec 1870 in Blythswood, Glasgow,
Died - 08 July 1925, 4 Douglas St, Clydebank, Glasgow
Father - Duncan Gillies
Mother - Margaret Gillies nee McRae.
Parents names taken from Marjory's death cert.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve

Scotland's People www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk has a  baptism for Margaret (not Marjory)  in Applecross(not on the online IGI):

The marriage cert also say Duncan Gillies and Margaret McCrae - but she was 22 in 1870 when she married  (therefore b. c. 1848) - back to the search  Undecided

Ps - cross posting - I'll have a think about this one  Undecided

This is very strange - unless her age is way out. i've done a big search on the 1851 and only come up with this one which, I think might be the one I found before:

1851 Applecross CallaKille District 58 ED 3 page 6

John Macbeath, hd, 58, farmer of 3 acres, b. Applecross
Alex Gillies, s-in-law, 26, ag Lab, b. Applecross
Janet McBeath, dau, 26, b. Applecross
Infant Gillies,grddaughter, 3 months, b. Applecross
Christy McLeod, serv, 25, General Servant, b. Applecross

Maybe the 1861 will turn up something  Undecided
