NORMAN ag labs around the area
« on: Saturday 06 October 07 13:12 BST (UK) »

My NORMAN family were ag labs moving around ( with the work presumeably) from Marden, Ocle Pychard, Westhide , Pipe & Lyle during '41 '51 '61'. My GGrandfather Thomas NORMAN b 1850 "bettered" himself and became  Butler in Stone House in Shropshire , moving on his marriage to Liverpool to work for the Post Office. His sister Lucy b 1856 was a servant in Widemarsh St in '71

His father was said to have been b. in Whitley Worcs. hsi mother Mary nee Adams b. Marden.

Does anyone have any news of this lot who have been a big brick wall for ages!

In anticipation..please..!!

i take it by your posting that you have the info on 1841,51,61,71. censuses
what sort of info were you after is it the later censuses
what are the names of the other members of the family
what are the birthdates of the other members of the family
what are the birthplaces of the other members of the family
any extra info you can supply would help us trace them

Thank you for your very quick reply..please excuse me if I was not too clear..this is my 1st post to this site...so..

Yes I have the info on the census returns and some birth/marriage certs : what I would like to know is the "further back  from"  1841 info.  The marr. cert of William NORMAN & Mary ADAMS  Nov 26th 1840 at Sutton St Nicholas gives Francis NORMAN as his father, is he the same Francis NORMAN who married Frances HERBERT 1814 in Bromyard? Another contact on the internet gave me some info ( which I would like to confirm or deny) going back to the marriage of "A" Francis NORMAN to Elizabeth FREEN in 1783.    I do not know how to search for this so any help would be most  appreciated.  I did visit Hereford R.O. some years ago but do not think I would be able to visit again , my searching has to be internet based these days! Age has a lot to answer for!!!

There appear to be a number of NORMANs around the area , I would love to adopt them if possible!

I think  GGrandfather Thomas had brother , according to 1861 census William NORMAN b. 1861 at Westhide is a groom at Haywood Farm.

Thanks...Luxorcat .
