Trying to find my grandfathers history - he died before my dad was born - he died April 1928 - he married Phyllis Bryson - they had 3 children Walter b 1913 - married Jenny Whitebank, Lily b 1920 married William Muir, and Alexander b 1928 married Edlina Meffen - The grandfather was a coalmerchant in Glasgow - above his store said Walter Gray & Son .  He was master of a lodge of Masonary that he joined in 1909.

Marriage 28th August 1914 441 Victoria Rd, Glasgow (Govanhill)

After publication according to the Forms of the United Original Secession Church

Walter Bruce Gray, Coal Merchant, bach, aged 29
Parents - Walter Gray, occ - Grain Traveller and Elizabeth Gray m.s. Smith

AND

Phyllis Bryson, spins, aged 21
Parents - Edward Bryson, occ - Hoistman and Lily Bryson m.s Cobb

walter...age 6
catherine...age 2
elizabeth...age 4 months.

need to find out who the parents of walter are?

hi pal,

wonder if your elizabeth smith was the daughter of david smith and janet caldwell. david was employed as a tailor, he and his family moved up from beith to glasgow around 1865 and show in glasgow on the 1871 census.
