Hi Big Guy......

The 1911census is available online at 1911census.co.uk.
It is not complete as yet, and there are lots of mistranscriptions ! I found my Hardy family down as Horley....It is also quite expensive. 1 pound, to view each transcription and 3 pound to view the actual image.......

Marys Farm, Near Wallingford. Oxford

George Sharman / head / age 31 / Farm Labourer / born Battersea London
Ruth Sharman / wife / age 33 / born South Stoke , Oxon
George Sharman / son / age 2 / born Fulham , London
Thomas Sharman / age 3 months / born Nuffield, Oxon
Frank Prior / brother in Law / age 17 / cow man / born South Stoke, Oxon
Fred Prior / brother in law / age 12 /  School / born South Stoke , Oxon

George and Ruth state that they have been married for two years.

Nuffield is the Parish, that they were living in.

I will now have another go at finding George in a earlier census, and hope he wasn't telling porkies, about where he was born........

Well that didn't take long ... the name flip-flopped back to Charman ... Found a George Charman born to a Joseph Charman in the 1881 census after looking for Sharman.

Me Again.......

I don't know if you have access to the 1891 / 1901 census, but I have found George on both, should you require the info.........Still cannot find a marriage though !

I wonder when the name was changed from Charman to Sharman ?

Unless there is a free site I have no access except for the 1881 census and the Family search from LDS.
So I would like the info very much.
I don't know when it went from Charman to Sharman as in Josephs case but from what I can surmise from my parents wedding cert it looks like the one who entered the name put Charman and it looks like my dad started an "S" but changed to a "C" mid stroke .. probably because of the name on it .. IMHO. When he signed for the death cert of his mother ..which was "Sharman" he signed same ..and that was after his marriage.. so who knows ... my birth cert says "Charman" also.

WOW !!

I am pretty certain , but will check, that Emma's maiden name was Grant, I also suspect that she was a second wife, but agin will check , and get back to you......

This will give you something to work with, in the meantime.....
