Hmm I dont know if yuor info comes from the iGI but there seems to be a lot of possibly dodgy submited info there on William Measureses.
It gives the 1840 marriage as to a Sarah Clark - that amy be right, youd need to get the cert.
It has a birth for William in 1821 in Ellington (as you say) with parents James and Elizabeth, but a christeening Jun 1822 in Ellington with parents james and Altimora? ??or variants Also a birth 1816, who they then says marries Sarah in 1842.!!!!! Needs checking out. All are submitted, so should be treated with caution and checked out to source.
I did notice on FreeBMD there is a marriage of a William Measures in 1846 to a Sarah in Huntingdon reg area, so there are more than one around

That's not a brick wall!
As Liz says, there's a load of garbage on the IGI, all of it member submitted. But at least you know which parish register you need to check, which unfortunately can't be done online.
Ellington parish register has not been filmed by the LDS (they were refused permission), so it's not on the IGI or BVRI. Nor is a transcript available from Hunts FHS
The only place you can view the parish register that I am aware of is at Huntingdon Records Office. If you can't get there they run a very reasonably priced research service
http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/leisure/archives/visiting/crohuntingdon.htm
There is a marriage on Hunts Marriage Index in 1812 at Grafham (a mile, or perhaps 2km if you're metric, from Ellington) of James Measures and Aoiti Armstrong, which half matches some of the entries on the IGI! Unfortunately that is par for the course with member submissions on the IGI - some of them are half right!
There's also a burial at Ellington of Aoltie Mira Measures age 44 on 25 Feb 1833. And a James Measures age 48 buried on 26 Dec 1839. There was no Elizabeth Measures buried in Ellington 1800-1900
But first you have to find William's baptism in Ellington to confirm, or not, that these are his parents
Regards
David

Hello PATVP, I, along with others, have been researching Armstrongs from Beds & Hunts etc, & have found several versions of the unusual christian name Althamia. These include Aolti Mira, Altemira, etc. This name is frequently associated with a particular line of Armstrong & Measures families. A Charles Armstrong b1712 in Houghton Conquest, Beds had a second marriage to Althamia Priaulx in 1747 in Great Bowden, Leics. They had several offspring inc Frances Althamia b1752 in Steppingley A Charles Armstrong b1750 wed Sarah Larkinson in 1783 in Houghton Conquest, Beds & had 2 children: Aolti Mira b about 1789 & wed James Measures & moved to Ellington. She died there in 1833. This couple had two children, Aolti Mira & Elizabeth. See Armstrongs of Grafham on the Rootschat Hunts pages (24th Aug 07) for more info Cheers Bob

Bit late in the day, but Camdex has a marriage of William Measures and Sarah Clarke in 1840 in Huntingdon Reg. district, their ref. 333/CE2001/11/2. They only give the year. You can obtain copies of the cert directly from them, however they add a £1 postage charge above the cost of obtaining a cert through the GRO. http://www2.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/db/ridmars.nsf/search?OpenForm
