DISLEY parish records look-up
« on: Wednesday 22 December 04 19:27 GMT (UK) »

Does anyone have easy access to the Disley Parish Records?

I am looking for the marriage of William Livesley to Martha. Their first child was born in Dec 1840. William was born in 1813. So, my guess best for a marriage would be 1832-39. My interest would be the date, Martha's maiden name and any other information in the register. William in 1841 describes himself as an Agricultural Laborer.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hi
There is nothing on the published marriages for a William and a Mary at Disley or any other Cheshire parish. Most of the C of E marriages in that township would have been at St Mary (a chapelry of Mary's at Stockport ) and therefore entered in the transcipts of St Mary Stockport.
Unless you know for certain thatDisley is where they married, you should be seaching the Bishops Transcripts for Stockport.
It may be an idea to ask the records office at Chester for a lookup, you should email them at the address on this link

Peter,

Thank you for trying. Disley had seemed the most logical location - given they lived there for 20 years. But, Family Research is rarely logical! Their 'roaming', was between Disley, Mellor and New Mills (the later two just over the border in Derbyshire). Then, of course being a laborer there is also the Wesleyan/Independent Chapels.

A negative response if often as good as a positive one.

Thanks again, have a great Christmas.
