As Arranroots has pointed out ,your question is (I hope) temporarily hypothetical, but I'll try and answer it nonetheless.
[Apologies in advance if you are a website design expert]
The answer is basically yes, with solid web page maker software, and a bit of determination and advice/support.
Rootschat webspace is just space - you need to supply the filling. I understand some sites have formats you need to work to - but rootschat space only has some technical limitations on the kind of file extensions you can use.
The gevaux website was made with Microsoft Front page. You would need some form of webpage maker or web design software (unless you are a genius at HTML) like Front Page to make such a site.
There's a thread on this board giving advice on building a family history website - http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,93490.0.html. Most of us who are patiently waiting for the RC space to come back up again have either contributed to that thread, or in the case of the greater majority, have read, learned and inwardly digested it.
Most of us with RC sites were complete beginners when we started on our family history sites - it's just a shame you can't at the moment see what a good job lots of people have done.
Hope this is helpful.
JULIAN

JULIAN hi thank for your reply, 1st i have to say irrespective of my uncles site unlike him i am no geninus,& yes your probably right i think he does have front page express,& i think i still got it on my system, but never til now used. my site if i never get to build it wont be like that as such but somthing more very basic. in a vision my front page will show my intro & links to other sites & the other pages,1 page will show my decent tree very much like his site, another will show most of my marrital links,i may put in a names database ? not sure yet,but the difference over them both is that my site will cover all my lines of research ,5 trees in total, not sure yet how my tree of decent will reflect that ,wheather it will be one tree for all,or 5 different trees.somthing i will work on when i start my site, but must stress, compaired to david gevaux i am jusy an amiter

Hi Familyman,
Welcome to RootsChat
normally we would say here, have a look at some of the other RootsChat free webspace sites to get some ides, but as the server is broken at the moment we can't say it right now.
But you can still try out ideas; this "chapter" in the tutorial will show you how. Topic: TUTORIAL: Step-by-Step Guide to building your website 5 Testing / Pre-Viewing your website http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=93490.msg397243#msg397243
It may be that you you just start off by getting something - anything - up and running, and that more ideas will come as you go along. I've redesigned my own website at least three times now, because I needed to see it "in action" to get a feel for how I wanted it. But that is all part of the fun.
There is another thread here, where the "Net Objects Fusion" users, the " RootsChat NOF Club" tell of their experiences and pass on tips. Topic: Building websites with Net Objects Fusion (The NOF Club) #2 http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,235854.0.html
good luck, and above all, have fun doing it Bob

Just had a peek at your site, it looks too clever for me. It is a good idea though as I have loads of information as well as a - not yet completed - tree (will it ever be!) and I had thought I might have to print it all out in book form, but a website available to my children/grandchildren might be a better idea.

Dinie.
I'll try when I have time. My children are not really into computers, apart from one who is a systems analyst but he's in the US. I'm not sure about the grandchildren either, they only use computers to play games. My OH is probably a better bet - at least he can write programs for complicated mathematical equations.

Go on, give it a try.
I did too with NOF, and I'd never thought I'd manage it, but I did
