A soldier in Tyree

Would anyone have any ideas as to where a soldier in Tyree would be stationed and serve.

I presume he may have been attached to the Argyll Highlanders regiment.

He was born abt. 1779,  in Gortendonel.  I  Have no idea when he died.
I would appreciate any information pertaining to the army of those days.
His name was Walter Sinclair.
