HI Damien
Good to see you here
This is a great site, so fingers crossed you get some replies

Have you added your surname interests?
If not at bottom of page click on surname interests, follow the search links and there is one other ENDEAN researcher somewhere in cornwalll and you could message them

Hi Damien,

First of all I have to thank you for all the help I've had from your website - it's in my favourites! I lost a weekend when it first came on line and added hugely to my tree.
As it happens, I've also got a link to an Endean family. One of the sisters of my 3xgreatgrand mother married a Bennet Andrew Endean. He was baptised 1/7/1782 in Perranzabuloe and married Elizabeth Russell in Redruth 15/9/1813. She was baptised 19/3/1786 in Sithney, the daughter of William & Frances Russell.
The Endeans had
William Russell 1814 Falmouth
Bennet Andrew 1815 Falmouth
Elizabeth 1818 Truro
John Pengelly 1820 Redruth
Henry 1824 Falmouth
James Russell 1826 Falmouth
Caroline 1830 Plymouth

I think Bennet's family were usually around Perranzabuloe, but it's an unusual name.
I can be sure of the link as William made a detailed will listing his daughters' married names. His burial notes say that he was the parish clerk of Sithney for 20 years.

Hi
Always nice to have feedback Smiley
The Endean's aren't actually my family, but the family of my late step-grandfather. I started digging for my aunt (step-aunt - my family is never simple!) I've traced them back, from my grandfather who was from Helston, back to St Newlyn East c1727. Unfortunately I can't tie this to St Columb Major, which is where the family originated, so I'm reliably informed.
You can check the marriage records yourself for signs of William Russell - he witnessed a great many!
Hope you continue to enjoy my work, currently I'm busy with Constantine, but have more Sithney records to do
regards

I have ENDEANs from Newlyn East around that time in my tree ...!
Robert Endean baptised 2 February 1726/7, son of Thomas and Ann.  I have bits and pieces of the families - if you think these are connected, let me know!

Hi Damien,

I do hope somebody arrives with an interest in the same family. It is always good to thrash things about with others with an interest in the same people. I can't find your Robert Endean either. I see there is a marriage in Philleigh about the right time but no sign of Robert.  I  have a missing Endean about this time also - One Catherine Endean - perhaps she knew your Robert LOL. Not an ancestor just a lady who married into a family of interest. This gal says she was from Ladock in 1851 census - the only census she appears in where she could tell me. (50 in 1841, 60 in 1851 b Ladock) next buried in 1859 aged 84 Hohum. Married in 1815 to a labourer who couldn't write but the one thing I can say about Catherine is she had a lovely hand. (lovely strong signature) Last child (twins)1835 so around 1791ish seems right - certainly wouldn't think much earlier.

On another note, my particular area of interest is the St Columb District. If I can help to try to ties something between Newlyn East and St Columb please give me a hoy - no guarantees of course but I will give it my best shot. I hold microfiche (and a lot of knowledge) for many parishes in the St Col District - Not that it has enabled me to make the connection between families I most want to make alas. Perhaps I will have more luck with yours....LOL.......Cheers Kris  Cheesy

Hi
Thanks for the offer - Robert was the first Endean in St Newlyn East, but from where he came I don't know - it wasn't St Columb though, hence the brickwall! Smiley

Have I missed something .... is it Robert you are interested in?  I have quite a bit of information about Robert born 1726/7, sent to me by another researcher whose credentials I feel able to trust ...!!

Hi Damien and united,

Thomas ENDAINE = Ann NICOLASS 20 Dec 1708 Newlyn East

baptisms Newlyn East Parents Thomas and Ann

Mary INDAIN 25 Nov 1721
Elizabeth INDAINS 27 Apr 1724 - 19 Jun 1724 (dau of Thomas Indain)
Robert INDEAIN 2 Feb 1726

Just having a bit of a scout about as I see no births in Newlyn 1708 - 1721 and I  considered this possibly followed by a move to Newlyn Wink

baptisms Cuby with Tregony Parents Thomas and Ann

Elizabeth ANDEAN 15 Jun 1708
James ANDEAN 9 Feb 1711
Thomas ANDEAN 9 Feb 1711
John ANDEAN 29 Sep 1713
Jane ANDEAN 4 Mar 1718

Looks like this was a brummy steer with two similar but different families.  Roll Eyes I had already typed it up so will leave it in for anyone with an interest in this line

Looking further afield I now see we have Thomas ANDEAN = Anne NICHOLLS of Cuby married 26 Jan 1705 Creed

Perhaps he was Thomas ANDEAN 31 Aug 1680 Cornelly parents Thomas and Julian

Thomas ANDEAN = Julian CHALWEL 29 Jul 1679 Cornelly

Righteo, I'm back to Newlyn  Wink

In the absence of baptisms from 1708-1721 I looked for deaths wondering if one of the party's of the 1708 marriage I supplied did not survive. The only one I spotted was

Cath ANDEAN was buried 23 Apr 1708

Now we Have

Thomas ENDAYNE = Catherine SEARLE 30 Jul 1692 Newlyn East........OOOH Now that looks good doesn't it

Robert was the first Endean in St Newlyn East, but from where he came I don't know
Appears this is not so Damien  Grin

Baptisms to Thomas and Catherine - Newlyn East

Catherine ENDAYNE 14 May 1693

OOOH... Thomas the son of Thomas ENDAYNE and Catherine his wife was baptised 29 Jun 1695

Thomasine ENDAYNE 6 Mar 1697

Eliza ENDAYN 28 Jun 1701

MMM  Cry

(Thomass) or I think that is what it says - def ends in "ss" end looks lik "omass" to me beginning a bit uncertain... the son of Thos ENDAYNE of Catherine 30 Apr 1703 (Will look for a death for first Thomas)

William ENDEAIN 22 Jan 1705

Young children so I now suspect the 1708 marriage was Catherine's husband remarrying quickly since he had young children to care for.

Hasn't helped with a marriage for Robert's Parents but hopefully advanced the cause a little..........Cheers Kris  Grin

OK I can't find a death for a Thomas 1695-1703. We do have a transcript for Newlyn from 1899 which helps work out some of the hard to read entries. This does list the second one as Thomass

Strange entry on bottom of 1701 baptisms

Elizabeth WILLIAMS born and Xmed this year near the Xng of Thos ENDAYN daughter Elizabeth

Dau Eliza baptism listed in my above post was buried 28 Jun 1702 (dau of Thos and Catherine)

Possibly Thomas's birth Newlyn East parents Arthur and Mary

Arthur ENDAYNE 25 Feb 1663
Thomas the son of Arthur ENDAYE and Mary was baptised 13 Apr 1667
Saumell ENDAYNE 1 Jul 1671
Robert ENDAYNE 26 Jun 1675
Elizabeth ENDAINE 22 Feb 1680

No joy with a marriage for Arthur and Mary

OK I've moved parishes  Wink

Arthur ANDEYNE bap 1 Oct 1631 St Columb Minor father Henry

Mary 1617 (I think is one - very hard to see, date not visible - I may be wrong)
Henry 11 May 1619
Barbara 27 Dec 1621
Christen 25 Feb 1623
Jone 7 Apr 1627

Henry ANDEYNE = Jone JAFFARIL 3 Mar 1616 St Columb Minor

That is what Jone's name looks like to me but there are none (or nothing anything even remotely similar I can see) so it can't be. There are Jeffrey's in the area and I see other entries in the marriage records where these look like Jaffary - very similar but this entry looks to me like aril (last letter looping up  not down.)

Still no sign of Arthur's marriage
