I am looking for any information which may lead to my gr.gr. grandfather Richard Woon. The information I have is:
Richard Woon possibly married Jemima Jenkin in 1835 at Kenwyn. (No other info on registration) Richard died between 1838/9 and 1851 (Jemima on census as widow). I have death certs for Richards in 1838, 1848 and 1849 none of which stand out as being him. Richard is not on the 1841 census with the family but Jemima is not recorded as widow. son John Woon b.1837 in Chacewater Kenwyn emigrated to Australia in 1857. His marriage cert states his father was Richard. daughters Mary b.1835 and Nanny 1839. I think they were Wesleyan and I cant find any registrations for the children. OPC researchers cant find him.
He doesnt seem to be in any of the usual registers. Can anyone advise where to look now. Does anyone have a missing Richard or can anyone place him in their tree? I think the family would have been in the Truro Kenwyn Redruth areas. I have been on so many wild goose chases and I would hate to have to stop here.
I would appreciate any help you can come up with. Thanks Heather

Thanks Shaun, I thought this was the Richard I was after too but I have spent many hours checking out the Richard who died in 1838 and he doesnt appear to be the one I am looking for. This Richard married Elizabeth Reed in 1825 and their children were all born in London. His father was Richard and his brothers William and Thomas. This Richard was a clerk at East India Company and mine was I think a miner. I dont think he wants to be found.
Cheers, Heather

Hi Heather the 1838 you discounted appears in west briton newspaper Lately at London, aged 37, Mr. Richard Woon, of the town; an estimable and excellent man, whose loss was severely felt by his family and friends. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wbritonad/cornwall/1838/deaths/JUNE.htm so this one too was also from cornwall BYe Althea

Thanks for your replies, I have only found 3 deaths for Richard in Truro around the time he could have died and none of them look too promising. I havent been able to find him on the 1841 census either. I dont know when he died, that is the problem but I have tried to eliminate the ones I have found. Thanks for your efforts.
