Hi tgeorge,

A big welcome to RootsChat  Grin

I have been having a good look about and I note:

The baptism of James 22 Dec 1811 to Thomas and Elizabeth is the only Baptism listed to Thomas and Elizabeth in Newlyn East. (There is the baptism of Maria 24 June 1804 parents John and Elizabeth.)

I have had a thorough look and there is no marriage listed in Newlyn East for either a Thomas and Elizabeth or a John and Elizabeth. It may be of interest that in the neighbouring parish of St Columb Minor I note:

17 Nov 1805.....GEORGE Thomas Bachelor of Crantock = SOLOMON Elizabeth OTP by Banns. George Signed with his Mark, Elizabeth Signed. Witnesses: Catherine Martyn and Mary Martyn

Banns were read in St Columb Minor between GEORGE Thomas of Crantock Bachelor and SOLOMON Elizabeth OTP Spinster 20, 27 Oct and 3 Nov 1805

Although Thomas and Elizabeth proceed to have children in St Columb Minor from 1806-1824 I do note a gap between 1808 and 1814 which seems a little large in comparison to the other baptisms which seem to be around 2-3 years apart except for this 6 year gap. I wonder if maybe they were in Newlyn for a short time during this period. The entries from 1814 list Thomas as a husbandman OTP and in later entries residence is given as Lane ITP. Unfortunately no further information was provided at baptism until the forms arrived in 1813 and we begin to get an occupation for the father and perhaps a little more as to residence.

Hi again,

On looking further I see Thomas and Elizabeth can be found in St Columb Minor in 1841 aged 55 years (ag lab)

In 1851 Thomas is aged 69 Widowed b Mawgan Farm Lab (Lodging at Trencreek in the home of Samuel Snell)

In 1861 Thomas is 79 Widowed b Mawgan Labourer (lodging at Church Town in the home of William Andrew)

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,144624.0.html

Elizabeth GEORGE aged 64 of Trencreek was buried 19 Apr 1847 St Columb Minor (Jun 1/4 1847 St Col 9 35)

Thomas GEORGE aged 87 of Church Town was buried 12 Oct 1868 St Columb Minor (Dec 1/4 1868 St Col aged 83 5c 69)
