Hello  everyone, my first post.    I have found a small report that refers to a person that may be one of my ancestors - being transported for seven years for robbing a stable.   Could someone please tell me how I can find out more about this person - named William Bone and what happened to him.  The report was dated 1825 in a newspaper transcript for Hampshire & Wiltshire.

Be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction,

I also had an ancestor that was sentenced to 7 years transportation but could not find him on any of the ships lists going to Australia.  With the help of a researcher he eventually "turned up" after being held on the hulk Justitia off Woolwich for almost 5 years.  He was eventually pardoned in 1826 age 28.  After this I can find no trace of him but will not give up.

Thanks for that IAAlexander.   I am not sure that he is mine yet, but would like to find out a little bit more about him as I feel that he could be.   Interesting isnt it.
