Looks as if there is more information available on the Essex Seax site. Just click on guest and type in Burnt House, it is lower down the list

Looks like there is more than one place called "Burnt House" in the Maldon area.

The one in Woodham Walter is in Burnt House Lane.

The Essex Gazetteer gives Woodham Walter as 2.5 miles west of Maldon.
