hi i am searching for a family member who has a emma osborne hale b1903 daventry northamptonshire i am hoping there is someone out there that knows something about emma we believe her family were canal boatmen

Have you got her birth cert? that would be the first step - it sill give her parents names and occupations, and then you can look for their marriage and also look on 1901 census for them.
It is much more fun to search out the info for yourself than to wait hoping you might maybe one day possibly if you're lucky come across someone who has already done it!

hi  sorry just noticed this post i didnt know kerry had posted it to help me
yes that is correct emma was my grandmother,she was always a dark horse ref her past.on my fathers birth cert she says her maiden name as osborne formally hale, on his brothers she states hale formally osborne,one the third son she states osbornehale. its taken me 6 years to establish that on her birth cert it says emma osborne father as robert hale mother betsy hale formerly osborne, fathers occupation as casual boatman,an x is the mark of betsy hale mother braunston.(she became a harrison when she married grandad) if we ever asked gran about her family we where more than often told to mind our own buisness(but not so polite) the only stories i ever got from her where she had brothers jo (joseph) & bill (william) many thanks for any help on this

I couldn't find one for Joseph.

thank you so very very much,you are a diamond. i paid for an extensive search for the info i needed a couple of years ago,all they came up with is my nans birth cert i have traced my dads family back 5 generations all where canal workers,my dads brother was born on the canal at braunston his other brother @ birmingham & dad @ harfield near uxbridge. but for years kept drawing blanks on nans side.i live south near to heathrow airport,so reserch has to be done on web sites or phone.i traveled up to braunston for the canal festival this year & visited the cemetery as i have several relatives buried there.its a great place i see why my decendants settled in the area.once again i cant thank you enough .

As you rightly say Braunston is a lovely village with the Canal
playing a vibrant background to the way of life for the Boat People.
