Hello,
Please can someone, who is a good detective, find my George James. I have been hunting for him for years!
George James was born according to the 1901 census c.1834 in Crick Northampton and according to his marriage certificate and 1891 census he was born 1836 or 1839. His father was William James, Gardener. George was a shoemaker and end up in Staffordshire and then Warwickshire.
I have never been able to find George or his family on the 1881 census. His wife was in the workhouse on the 1871 census but she also gave birth whilst there. I have tried every which way searching but nothing!
George James, married Martha Turner, in 1863 in Wednesbury He had 9 children : ------------- 1 Sarah Ann James, born in ? Staffs, Wednesbury in 1864. ------------- 2 George Henry James, born in ? Staffs, Wednesbury in 1866. ------------- 3 Stephen James, born in 1867, married Elizabeth Caulfield, the 25 October 1891 in St Jude's, B'ham. ------------- 4 Emma James, born in 1871 ------------- 5 Selina James, born in Birmingham in 1873. ------------- 6 Elizabeth James, born in Birmingham in 1875. ------------- 7 William James, born in Birmingham in 1877. ------------- 8 Martha James, born in Birmingham in 1884. ------------- 9 Albert James, born in 1887. -------------
The only censuses George James appears on is the 1891 and 1901.
Can anyone find him on the others, please?
Also, if you have a George James of Northamptonshire with a father, William, on your family tree that suddenly disappears - please let me know.
Here's hoping.
Kind Regards Rachel
