1 off offer Cheshire/ Liverpool Postal Directories 1800's

Hello
I have to visit various places in the coming week to do reseach.Mainly in libraries where they have the directories,They call them Historical directories in net Grin

Nearly all the Cheshire Directories contain Liverpool and surrounding areas meaning mostly Birkenhead and their surrounding area. So if anyone would like a look up in the 1800's only while i am there let me know.I mostly use these directories for a track back search.If there is a street index i can look up who lived in? Surename gives name address & occupation of the House Holder Only.So I just need one name please, occupation and last known address, if known.In case there are hundreds of john Browns covering liverpool & Birkenhead Grin

Hello Celia
It is kind of you to offer to do this and I will take you up on it if you are able to.

I have Richard Williams address on marriage cert 1872 looks like 4 Howard/Howarth Street Birkenhead and was a mariner at the time of marriage.

They were married in the Parish Church of Birkenhead so I assume it was in Birkenhead that they lived.

Thank you for this and don't worry if nothing found as I don't know if they were living with any family as they both shared the same address at the time of marriage.

1872 Cheshire Directory
In the old directories Birkenhead like Liverpool had and still has very Loooooong Streets.With a street of off it all the way down.You read,"now we come to Thingy street,this happend here.There was no streets at all beginning with HOW.However looking in the off streets as i call them Grin

in the index.I found Howard Street,St Mary's Gate Birkenhead,Found St Mary's Gate,Which also had Priory Street & Knox street.For some reason Howard Street only had 5 houses,never found anymore anywhere else which i thought odd considering the numbers.

25 Graig Williams Shoemaker.
29. Thomas Youds Baker & Flour Dealer
These were in the 1871 as well

1874 Cheshire Directory. Bit of a shuffle round here with a Chang of numbers;)

Thomas Youds now lives in St Mary's gate St Mary's Avenue
number 31.

23 Surename was Philips
25. Simmons
27. Pownall
Don't know if this is any use to you because you think it looks like a number 5. I looked in three books and those same numbers appear in them.
I did find a Howorth street as well but it was in Everton

I know they moved to Everton in the 81 census but I dont know how they could have married in Birkenhead if living in Everton in 72 they were married by banns

Thank you Celia if you dont mind its worth a try lots of family from Wales around the area so any welsh names in the house a possibility Williams/Jones/Griffith/Owen The house number on the cert was number 4 if this helps
