PR Crediton Marriage 1723 MOUNCE

Have found an entry on the IGI for a marriage between John MOUNCE and Eliz SMARTT on 18 Feb 1723 at Crediton.
Would be grateful for any more info which may be found on the actual record -  ie parents etc.

Hi paxisnz,

Fathers names do not appear on marriage records until civil registration began in 1837. I am sorry to say there will be no other information in the entry from this era. All they are are the two names and date. From 1754 when the forms arrive we get signatures of "mark of" for the Bride and Groom. We also get two witnesses signatures. (Mark of) We may (but not necessarily)  get a little more as to residence, marital status and maybe even an occupation for the groom but alas Father's are still not listed..........Kris  Cry
