Hi i am looking for information on James Buglass born 1824 Co Durham or northumberland  Died 1909 Ballarat Aust
his parents were William and Mary??

He married Ann Ord born 1833 Co Durham England?
Died 1910 Ballarat Aust

I have no information on her parents.

I am not sure when they emigrated to Aust

What i would like to know if possible is the date of there marriage and where.

I have children as
Annie Dorothy 1852-1910 born  sunderland  died Ballarat
Thomas 1857-1862 died in portland
George William 1859- ? born in Kyneton
any help would be great

Hhhhmmm, also in 1841 theres a Barbara and Ann Ord of the correct age in a school in Bootham, St Michael le Belfry, Yorks, not born in county, Barbara aged 12, Anne aged 10 HO107/1355/5  Folio 30 Page 20

In 1851 theres a James and Ann Buglass living in Gateshead Durham with children William (age 4) and Dorothy (age 1). James is a stonemason, do you know your James occupation? Could this be the family?

amended: they're the wrong age though, both age 24  Undecided



In 1841, theres a James Buglass in the same household as an Ord family, no sign of an Ann though  Undecided

Hi Catherine, it looks like you have made a good start for me.
If it helps there daughter Annie Dorothy married Joseph Pyke in 1867. I am presuming it was in either Tasmania where he was born or in Victoria they resided in Ballarat.

I have been given a link of shipping record to Australia for a Anne Dorothy aged 4 and her parents James aged 28  and Anne also aged 28 they arrived on the Athletae to Victoria in 1855. It fits for Anne Dorothy's age and i know they came here at some stage so i would sat it is possible that the birthdate i have for Anne Ord is out by about ten years making her year of birth around 1824
