Would apprecaite what you have on Byford, Archer and Kemp
(grt granny Susan nee Kemp, first marriage to a Byford, then married my grt grandad up in Harwich, her mum's maiden name Archer. All came from grt/Ltl Waltham area! Hence my interest! a branch of the family I have not done much on. I'll have to beware or you will get me going!)

Wow Kath!

This is very kind of you, I hope my request will not be too time consuming.

I am trying to trace my Brooks lines from Essex. I have a Mary Brooks born 1811 Wicken who lived in nearby villages of Newport, Rickling, Quendon etc. She eventually married Henry Goodwin from Quendon (after the birth of my Alfred William Brooks, father unknown) and they had moved to Hackney by 1851. There are two possible lines from which she could have originated and I am exploring any other local Brooks for clues!

If it isn't too complicated could you post me details of the Brooks you have in Great Waltham so that I can consider these for possibilities?

1722 is a little too early to link up my current Brooks of 1800 ish but I will hold on to these names in case I can eventually fit in the links.

Baptisms or burials for any Brooks in the late 1700s will be very helpful.
Let us hope we can find something.
Not having a father's name for Alfred William is frustrating, I am assuming Henry Goodwin may have been his father as Mary and Henry married when Alfred was a baby. To all intent and purposes, he was his Dad as he brought him up. Grin

if the offer is still open my interests are anything you find on Lazell, Carter, Hanch and Broyd (didn't see this one on your list though, eventually marrying an Oakes in Romford in 1899)

I have William Lazell marrying Elizabeth Carter both from Upminster around 1800, no birth, marriage or death dates for families. Cry

I also have Robert Hanch born c1815 from Cranham marrying Sarah Ann Lazell born c1836 from Gt. Warley but no previous dates or relatives. Undecided

Also Jane Hanch c 1854 from Gt. Warley, daughter of Robert (above) marrying Josh Broyd born1859 from Finchingfield, son of William and Martha Broyd married somewhere in Essex.

I realise the dates are a little later than those you give but wondered if there was any earlier connection you may be able to find?
