Trying to detect my Grandfather who is marked on my Mothers Birth Cerificate as a William Warner - Farmer.
Unfortunately unmarried to my Grandmother so he must have been in the Huntingdon area in 1916. Anyone any ideas?

My Mother waas born June 16th 1917, I am looking at the conception period as he may have been a farm labourer or seasonal worker.

1901. the only one i could find that would fit if he was in the area in 1901.

Many thanks for the lookup Wozzle. Does it mean he was 43 in 1901 that would make him 60 at conception. Is his wife Eliza Warner aged 20 in 1901 or is it his eldest daughter?
I believe my grandmother worked in Hinchinbrook Castle as a maid and a Head Gardener could be linked maybe the son William D Warner aged 7 in 1901 and 22 in 1916 could be the person.

I'd rather keep my Grandmothers name confidential due to persons still alive, however I can tell you that the family line on my Grandmothers side I have been able to trace to the 1600's in the Huntingdon area.
My Father side who is a Brown frrom Sunderland I have traced to the mid 1700's. With all this Family History my Mothers Father is an enigma.
I was hoping to find some documetary evidence nearer to 1916 that would put Mr William Warner in the direct area. The lead from Wozzle certainly is the best lead so far.

You could contact Huntingdon Records Office and/or Huntingdon library to see if they hold an electoral roll for around that time.
You could go through the GRO indexes to see if a William Warner married/died in Hunts around/after 1916
As Brampton is only a mile from Hinchingbrooke House it's a fair possibility. Proving it is a different matter.
Was William Warner actually named in the records, or has the name been added by someone (eg your grandmother or her mother) subsequently on an original birth cert?

Well spotted BB the name has been added to a copy of the Birth Cerificate and offiially written in on my mothers marriage certificate.
My mothers birth Certificate named her as "Mary Warner". a month after she was born.
