Junket says on her first posting that the marriage cert gives her maiden name as Boag which she posted a picture of, she was asking if it could read something else

Thanks to all.
I have ordered the Birth certificate, for my g grandmother.
I questioned the Boag spelling as, I cannot find Boag in St Enoder or the rest of Cornwall, in the 1850s, I was hoping someone might find some or say thay the surname was something else, ( as, I could find Bray and Bony, in the St Ewe area ).
My grandparents, took me to Lower Sticker, to show me the house, where William and Mary lived, but never mentioned her coming from Newcastle not Cornwall. I have emailed, my great uncle, to ask if he remembers his grandmother's surname, unfortunately he doesn't and he is the last living grandchild of William and Mary.
Thank you so much for all your help, I do appreciate it.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Whats really puzzling is that there is no birth record of her anywhere.
It is always possible that her birth was never registered, it was not mandatory until the 1870,s.
You best bet would be if you could find someone who has access to the parish records for that area, you might find her that way.
Good luck

Hi. Patrish.
thank you for your help. I always find all responses helpful. It is always good, to have another person's ideas / views on a subject.
I have another relative, who did not have her birth registered, in 1852. I have contacted the Registry Office for the area. they were very helpful and confirmed for me, that she was not registered in their area or the surrounding areas. They also gave me a contact for another area, who also confirmed that there was no registration, in that area.
I will continue searching, whilst waiting for g gran's birth cert.
thanks again everyone.

If its any consolation one of my own gt. grandmothers was not registered when she born around 1850, I have searched all the parish records for the area but drawn a blank.

At least Mary married and had children, so there is a trail.
My Lydia, born 1852, did not marry lived at home with her parents and died a single woman. Despite being noted as the mother of some of the children in the household, on some of the census records. birth certs., corrected these records.
I am searching and finding on this family. But no Boag as yet....Have found Bagg in the area....lol.

Thanks Debz.
I will take a look at this family and see what I can find. It is a good possibility, Mary the younger is old enough to leave home.
Back to the search.

I have just searched the COCP, for St Clements, Truro, 1871, and found...
11 Trennick Row,1,Richard Bray,Head,M,59,,Butcher,Truro Cornwall,,
In BMD, an Elizabeth Bray, married an Elijah Wilce, in Truro in 1868.
A William K Wilce, was born in Truro, in 1870.
COCP, have g'son of Richard Bray aged 5m, William K Wilce.
Is it Anc., who have it as Boag in 1871 ?
Freecen didn't pick it up as Boag, either.

Debz, I am so grateful for your help.
But this does take me back to my initial enquiry, could Boag be BRAY ?
To me the g is a y...there is no loop at the end of the stalk...........but that, is how I see it. When one looks at the whole cert., the person, that wrote it has rather a lot of flourishes on some of the letters.
the 5 in 1885 has a very long one..Lower Sticker is joined together, by the r of lower, to the S of sticker...
goodness knows what the rector's name was.
