Goosepool, Chertsey
« on: Monday 22 March 04 22:34 GMT (UK) »

Does anyone know anything about Goosepool, Chertsey.

It's a small road.

I'm wondering if anyone knows about the 'Waggon & Horses', which I presume was a public house there.

Many thanks

Hi Twink,

I did a google on Chertsey, and then "chertsey goosepool".

Quite a few hits ! One of them leads to
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/LONDON/1999-04
where someone else was asking the same question !
A reply came, too:
"Goosepool is a (short) street in Chertsey - I'm not surprised you can't find it on a map. If you have a look at the map and find the junction of
Guildford Road (A320), Guildford Street and Eastworth Road (A317), the
fourth arm of that junction is Goosepool, which runs North-West and quickly becomes Pyrford Road and then Chilsey Green Road (A317).

It suffered from demolition some years ago and is a bit characterless now, but at the time you're talking about there were houses along it."

He suppies an e-mail address, so maybe you can contact him directly.

Google: 'chertsey "waggon & horses" ' also turned up some hits, but the pub mentioned may be in Addlestone rather than Chertsey

Good Hunting !

There was a block of council flats in Goosepool, my wife's aunt used to live there and we often used to visit her. The flats were behind the old fire station, near the railway. They were demolished about 20 years ago.

Regards, Chris.
