There seems to be a number of variants of this family name!
I'm looking for any possible connections with my g/g/g/g/g/g/g/g/grandmother Ann Headache born around 1704 probably in Bucklebury. She married Samuel Dod (Dodd) and had a daughter Sarah born in Bucklebury in 1838.
This name seems very common around Bucklebury/Bradfield/Yattendon/Pangbourne
Hi, These are all fore runners to the name HERRIDGE.
I like yourself am having trouble sorting them all out. My direct line goes to Bradfield with Thomas Headach born c1671-5. One I have found on the IGI Thomas b c1671 has parents of Thomas Headach & Elizabeth Martin both of Pangbourne BUT married in Bradfield 06/03/1670. The Pangbourne 'Headache' goes back to Peeter Headach c1565. the Bradfield 'Headache' to a Henry Headache c1539. The Bucklebury 'Headache' I'm told is one of the oldest family names for the area going back to the 1300's!
So is there anyone out there who has sorted the biggest headache going?
An excellent website and I've been able to add a couple more generations to my tree back to Richard Heddyche. I would guess he was born about 1520ish, would you agree? My connection to the family is with Ann Headache's daughter Sarah Dod marrying Robert Hathway making Sarah and Robert my g/g/g/g/g/g/g/grandparents.
Thanks Dick, very useful to me too. I have Joane Hedidge who married Henry Ilberry on 7 Nov 1625 in Bradfield. I think she must be the Jane Headach baptised 1602 in Pangbourne, parents Peeter and Joane, so she is possibly traceable back to your Richard and Jane/Joane who were buried in Bucklebury.
