Richard Speight b1777 Kendal

Hi all,

I'm looking for the parents of my 3rd gt grandfather Richard Speight b1777 in Kendal. He moved to Gravesend Kent, married a Mary Ann (Beadle I believe, in 1806)  and they had at least 3 children (Barbara Ann, Richard and Robert).

The couple are on census at:

HO107/Piece 1609/Folio 102/Page 46

Any ideas where I could look?

Hi Paul,

Sorry to reply belatedly, I've just joined the website.

I have some Speights in my tree, descending from Richard b.1680 in Capernwray (about 12 miles SSE of Kendal and 12 miles NNE of Lancaster).

Have you any more info?

Hi Chris,

The only details I have come from the 1851 census where he is listed as born 1777 in Kendal.

He married in Bexley, Kent so it is possible that his family moved there from Kendal or he moved there alone.

I have had no luck anywhere on Richard so I would appreciate any help.

He is a 'Lab' in 1851 so no help there. His marriage is from IGI so I have no idea what religion he was.
