« on: Sunday 21 October 07 00:24 BST (UK) »

Hi

I am looking for any info on Thomas Francis abt 1795  born maybe Lowestoft maybe Scotland, married Catherine McKenzie 1827 at  Gorbals, Catherine was from Lorn, Argyle. On the 1841/51 Catherine is living at High St, Dunbarton with her children, Caroline 1829, Thomas 1831, Julia 1833, Catherine 1835 and John 1838.  No sign of father Thomas.

Any info would help.  thanks lynne

Hello Lynne

Not really able to add more than you've already got.  I take it you got the info about the children from www.familysearch.org   I've just been there - clicked on the 'search' tab and up came 6 children born to Thomas Francis and Catherine Mckenzie. - not 5 - although there is a Carolina and a Caoline - so maybe transcription errors?
Strangely enough it said a Caroline Francis born 1828 - father:  Thomas Francis - mother: Catherine or Julia McKenzie.  From the next child onwards she's plain Catherine.  I see that Caroline Francis married in 1850 and died in 1908.
Do you know if Catherine married again? Do you know when she died? If Thomas came from England - he may have returned there, or if he died before 1855 the chances of finding him are remote.
Sorry.  Good luck.  Regards,  Steve .
