Stray Found - Iron (?) family of Morland
« on: Thursday 14 August 08 19:30 BST (UK) »

Hello there

While searching through the parish rcords of Little Parndon in Essex I found the following baptism:

Elizabeth daughter of William and Mary Iron [badly written] poor travellers of the parish of Moreland [sic] in the county of Westmoreland.  Born 17 Dec 1736 bap 18 Dec 1736

The original records are visible online at the SEAX site if anyone wants to view it or have a better shot at the surname.

Cheers

Ashley

Hi Ashley,

I suspect that the surname is a variation of ION, which is reasonably common in different parishes throughout the county. It is also mistranscribed as JON in some parts of the IGI.

Good Hunting
