I am having a problem finding a marriage!
On the 1851 census for Lakenham are John and Charlotte Bolton, aged 38 and 36. John is born Norwich, Charlotte born Wymondham. John is a shoemaker. They were the only entries at their address.
In June 1851 their son Walter George was born. His birth certificate shows mother as Charlotte Bolton, formerly Long. They were living at Twenty One Row, Lakenham at the time of the census and birth. Having scoured the GRO Indexes, I cannot find any marriage registration for John Bolton and Charlotte Long anywhere in uk, let alone in Norfolk. There doesn't appear to be an entry for John and Charlotte on the 1881 census, and I have no access to 1861 or 71 for Norfolk.
Anyone have any ideas on the "missing" marriage please? I did wonder if Charlotte wasn't a Long at the time of marriage. If they were having their first child at the ages of 38 and 36, maybe one or both had been married and widowed previously.
I would be grateful of any help on this one please.
Many thanks
Mark

Mark. This is a long shot, and I do have the 1861 Norfok, although I cannot guarantee to be able to check all of Lakenham tonight. Well, here it is, there is Ray Long who runs the Cosford database, in Suffolk. He is a complete lunatic (like me) who spends hours doing lots of family history stuff and has one of the best web sites in the country (unlike me). If you definitely know you have a Long family member, and have done some of th research in the first place, send him an email. He is one really nice person. Type 'cosford database' into google, one of his emails does not work, one does. Kevan
