I'd found that Dodson family in 1871; it came up as the only Susan* b Yaxley at the right time. But I can't find a Dodson marriage either - unless she had first married someone else and remarried as a widow - there's a marriage in Peterborough reg district in Dec 1863 William Dodson/Susan Rowell.
I think you can rule out the Dodson theory - there was a Susan Rowell b 1837 in Yaxley in 1851

The 1871 census in Yaxley has John Woods b 1840 Glatton with wife Susan b 1839 Yaxley, & 4 children, William 1864, Thomas 1865, Robert 1867 & Elizabeth Fanny 1870. I have found Birth indexes for the first 3 chidren in Peterborough RD. The 1881 census gives us another 4 children. In 1891 & 1901 Susan's name changes to Susannah.
I have trawled through the 1861/1862/1863/1864 full marriage indexes but cannot find a John Woods (or Wood) married in Peterborough.
On 1861 there is a John Woods, unmarried age 22 living in Stilton, Hunts, & David found the unmarried Susan Sharpe age 24 in Yaxley, along with her sisters Margaret age 27 & Lucy 20.
There is another unmarried Susannah Speechley b 1840 Yaxley available in 1861. There are a couple of marriage indexes for her in Peterborough.
All the best of luck, John
