Hello!
There are George BRYANTs in Gloucestershire about the right age, but no exact matches. Don't know the ages of siblings, but presume you expected to find them in 1871 too? Best approximation:
Thomas aged 42 Merel wife aged 38 Elizabeth Doras Clara Thomas George all at Clearwell, Newland, Gloucestershire
Can get more detail if you think this is worth pursuing? Tried other counties without success. Where were other family members born, do you know?
Regards, Sue

Hi Greg, How is BC?? (I'm envious!!)
RG10/5298 F113 Pages10 & 11
Thomas BRYANT 42 H M Labourer at pit, born Somerset, Kingswood Merel BRYANT 38 W M ,born Wiltshire, Littleton Drew Elizabeth 15 Dau U scholar, born Wiltshire, Luckington Doras 10 Dau ,born Wiltshire, Luckington Clara 8 Dau, born Wiltshire, Luckington Thomas 4 son, born Gloucestershire, Newland George 2 son, born ditto
Address Marsh Lane, Clearwell, Newland
Notes: 1. Merel's name is very difficult to read. It could conceivably be Mercy, but not Lucy (the M is clear) 2. There are several Kingswoods, one is just north of Merel's place of birth near Wotton under Edge, but the more likely is now part of Bristol & was then Somerset 3. Doras could be Dorcas, but not Doris 4. Agree it is likely there was a second marriage, maybe to someone who already had a son Thomas, hence the need to differentiate by middle names?? 5. I could find no other reference to Merel, so I guess it is a mistranscription of some sort
Hope this helps
Sue
