My great grandfather was Thomas Anderson and was born at Bank Row on 21 Sept 1858. Prior to that I believe his parents, and his wifes parents lived in Salton Street. I see from google maps that both streets still exist today. However, does anybody know whether they have been redeveloped? If not, can anyone tell me how I could obtain photographs of both streets? I do not know house numbers or house names.
Thanks Dave

Thanks Jim, I've had a few PMs with links to various parts of that site. I've now written to the Wick Heritage Centre for a bit more info. Considering a visit next year. I live in Glasgow and could get a return flight from Edinburgh to Wick for about £94. Dave

The Allan's in the tree are all from Aberdeen and only related to me through marriage so don't have too much info. You should be able to see everything on the site by entering visitor password: aldav5257.
Caithness families are Anderson, Green and Oag / Ogg.

Your dates don't follow airdlass. The daughter of Elspet F and Alexander Oag, Elizabeth (I have Elspet), was born circa 1757. She couldn't have married John Gunn in 1758. Can you clarify? Dave

Hi Dave
This is a while coming but Bank Row certainly did exist. My Grandfather George Sutherland was born at 6 Bank Row. His Grandmother Jessie Sutherland Nee. Bruce was shown living there on the 1901 census with her children. She had been a widow for many years by then.
George Sutherland's Mother was Isabella Sutherland she went on to marry and the wedding took place at 6 Bank Row in 1908. Her two sons were born there, the later being in 1910.
I do know it was bombed but if 6 Bank Row was part of that I couldn't say.
Last year my Grandfather's son by his second marriage also a George Sutherland (who lives in South Africa and is an elderly man) went back to try and find out information about his family. Sadly if he found anything he refused to tell both myself and his own son.
Regards Sandra

Hi Sandra. Since I originally posted, I've established that both streets still exist although parts have been rebuilt. (there are some links to photos in this thread).
Interestingly, my ggg grandmother was a Sutherland. Originally from Drainie in Moray, born 1794, she moved to Pulteneytown and married my ggg grandfather. Whether her parents or siblings moved to Caithness, I've not checked yet.
Have you looked for older rellies on IGI and/or SP?
Dave
