So what about my Mates family then?

I do have lots of info from GOONS on them but it's mainly DNA results showing that my lot were indeed connected to the ones in Cheshire and Derbyshire and Ireland and were originally mid-European (but so were many of our ancestors if we go that far back  Roll Eyes )

It doesn't help me find where they were before the moved to Denbighshire  Sad

If googling I usually put the surname and a location name.  But that doesn't work with one family called Guest.  If I try that, I just get pages of B&Bs, guest houses, hotels etc.

If you put a minus sign before a word or phrase (remember to put the phrase in quotes) then google will ignore any hits which match the "minussed" word.

So my search would be for something like

Guest Broseley -hotel -B&B -"guest house"

Something like

"Old Trafford" -football -cricket -"Manchester United"

would find matches for Old Trafford, but exclude most pages that are about the footie or cricket grounds.

There's no space between the minus and the text following.
