I'm not sure if this is the right place to be posting an enquiry, but here goes.
I'm attempting to find out more on a Great-Great Uncle of mine; Archibald MacMaster who emigrated to America some time between 1881 and 1907. He appears to have settled, at least for some time, in Morris County, New Jersey. More specifically, Springbank Farm, New Jersey.
The only evidence I have of his emigration is [a] lack of any records of him in Scotland after 1881 and [b] when my great-great grandfather visited America in 1907, on the ships manifest he was said to be staying with his brother, Archibald.
I'm not very familiar with what records and resources are available online regarding passenger lists and American censuses, so this is making it virtually impossible for me to get any further in this case.
Does anyone have any ideas/tips on what the best way forward is? Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Strangely enough my husband and I were just discussing a McMaster family tonight and trying to find details about an Archibald McMaster who (we think) served in WWI. A few more details might help someone find more information for you. Do you know when and where Archibald McMaster was born? names of parents and any siblings? name of brother that visited him in U.S.?

Strange! I certainly do have more information on Archibald. He was born on October 5th 1874 in Barisdale, Knoydart, the son of Ronald and Mary MacMaster. He had at least three brothers; John, Angus and Ewen, and at least two sisters; Mary and Jessie. The brother who was visiting Archibald, was John Cameron MacMaster, my Great-Great Grandfather.
I can't think of anything else to add, other than that Archibald came from a family of Fox-Hunters and Game Keepers. His father and two of his brothers were employed as such, and I think there could be a high chance that Archibald shared his family's love of hunting and fishing. Not an essential fact, but an interesting one which I thought i'd add.
Hope this gives a bit more information,
