Hi Miss Daphnie, welcome to Roots  Smiley

Can you explain what it is you want?  Do you want him finding on census records for 1841 and 1851?

There is a Moses Stanaway death registered in 1st quarter 1853 Reg district West Bromwich. Vol 6b page 412.

Can only find 1851 with a Moses with a wife called Ann, but her maiden name looks to be Carr as he lives with in laws. Undecided

Hi Joan
Thankyou for your reply the information you have given me is part of our tree the death is that of his baby son.  Moses snr died in  July 1852  and the buriel records gave us this information but we have come to a standstill as there isn't a death certificate for him in the sandwell records which means he must have died outside of the sandwell area.

Have you already found them on 1851 census?  Presume then the one I have found is not right one as Ann was a Carr?

Hi Joan
Yes Ann Carr and Ann Meek are the same person we hav e found them on the 1851 census but no sign of Moses snr any place after that until the cemetry records in 1852.  He was a miner so I am beginning to suspect he must have died whilst working in another town and been brought back to oldbury to be buried.

Sorry I can't help further.

Nearest mining disaster I could find

BUNKERS HILL. Bilston, Staffordshire. 16th. June, 1852.

Its in the right area - maybe worth trying to follow up  Wink

Registering of births and deaths was not compulsory until 1874.  There are many Ancestors who have no birth or death certificates before this date, people just did not bother.  mrswoman.
