I have got to a complete dead end and badly need help please. Joseph Purdue born 1704 married Hannah Walker. I need these birth and marriage certs. His mother was Martha unknown and father unknown, but he must have been a Purdue. They had a son called Luke Pudue born 1766 and I need Luke's birth cert and also his marriage cert to Susannah unknown. I have searched and exhausted all the avenues that I know and just cannot connect because of lack of proof. Please help if you can.

. I need these birth and marriage certs There were no certifcates issued before registration in 1837, you would need the parish register records or the IGI.

If Joseph was born in 1704 that would make him 62 when Luke was born , therefore Hannah must have been much younger.
No record on his birth on the IGI. or his marriage, sorry

Because my info is so sketchy about dates, this is the problem I have. Luke Purdue was definitely born in 1766 and his mother was Martha unknown and his father was Joseph Purdue born 3rd march 1740. In my searches, I can never find any records of luke only recordings of him as a father to own 4 children. I have an old purdue will - John Purdue 1712-1791 married to Hannah Head. He was clothier from Newbury and luke Purdue was also born in Newbury, but came to London later. He was left money by John Purdue and was described in the will as his nephew.I need a marriage for Joseph Purdue and Martha and a marriage for Luke and his wife Susannah unknown. If this helps at all I would be so gratefull as I have been searching now for a few years with dead ends. Many thanks for your interest.

I see now, you said in the first post he was born in 1704 not 1740, that makes a big difference, This is the only entry on the IGI anywhere near your time frame.
Joseph Purdue ch. 2.11.1736 Newbury, Berks.
Father Joseph Mother Mary
You need to access the Newbury Parish Records, try contacting www.berksfhs.org.uk/ they might be able to help you or perhaps offer to search for you .

Loads of Purdues listed in the Berkshire Burial Index, many in the parish of St Nicholas, Newbury (approx 75 of them!)
including Joseph Purdue buried 1 Feb 1778, Newbury St Nicholas , and Joseph Purdue buried 30 Mar 1796, aged 64, Newbury St Nicholas.
