Hi Folks,

Greetings from Toronto, Canada.

I would dearly like to contact, and share family history notes with, any descendant or researcher of the family of my cousin, John CHISMAN (1811 - 1875), who married Louisa KNIGHT (1811 - 1886).

John CHISMAN was baptized in East Knoyle, Wilts, 1811.  In 1837, in St. Denys, Warminster, John married Louisa KNIGHT.  John and Louisa farmed in Stockton and, from the late 1840s, in Codford St. Peter, Wilts.  John, aged 64, was buried in Codford St. Peter on June 11th.,. 1875;  Louisa died, aged 75, in Q2 of 1886, in Warminster district.  John and Louisa had issue, including:

b)   Thomas CHISMAN, born in Stockton about 1840.  In 1870, in Stourton, he married  Eliza HARDING.  In the 1871 census, Thomas 31 was a farmer of 640 acres in Codford St. Mary, living with Eliza 29, but no children;  in the 1881 census, Thomas was 41, head, a retired farmer, living in Codford St. Mary, with Eliza 40, but no children;  in the 1891 census, they had cousin James CHISMAN living with them, still no children;  in the 1901 census, Thomas was a retired farmer 61, living with Eliza 59 in Codford St. Peter.  Thomas 72 died in Warminster district in Q3 of 1912.  No known issue.

c)   Louisa CHISMAN, born in Stockton 1846.  About 1876 / 77, Louisa married Joseph DEAN, farmer, who was born in Imber about 1844.  In the 1881 census, Louisa was head, married, 35, farmer’s wife of 1250 acres in Chitterne All Saints, living at The Lodge on High Street, husband not present  -  Joseph Dean, married, 37, farmer, born in Imber, was a visitor in Wiveliscombe, Som.;  in the 1891 census, Joseph 48 was farming in Chitterne, living with Louisa 47 and 3 sons;  in the 1901 census, Joseph 58 and sons Edgar 22 and George 21 were living on the farm in Chitterne  -    Louisa DEAN 54 was staying (visiting?) in Kew with ?Maria K.
