Topic: Why can't I find any of them on the 1901 census? (Read 351 times)

Hi,
Could anyone please help find the following people on the UK 1901. They must be there somewhere!
George Lobb, born 1886 in the district of Edmonton (can't find in 1901 or 1891)
Mary Winifred A Pankhurst, born 1890 in Wandsworth (can't find in 1901 or 1891)
Henry James Purcell born 1901 in the district of Edmonton (he may not have been born in time for census)
These are all people from my friends family. I do not know their parents or have their birth certificates so narrowing down possibles may prove tricky or even finding them (which I cannot, and I spent most of yesterday looking!)
Any clues would be great.

If you can't find someone using Ancestry, try looking at the findmypast indexes.
In 1891 George LOBB aged 4 born Edmonton is there somewhere but I can't see him on Ancestry.

Hi, me again!
Can anyone work out what George Lobb's occupation is? Something to do with coffee?
Also Rose Purcell (Hy Jas mother) is transcribed as being born in Hackney, Sussex, I think it says Hastings, Sussex (which obv fits better with Sussex) can anyone confirm please?

findmypast definitely states that George's place of birth was Edmonton. There is no mention of Edmonton on either of the above entries. (I know that Enfield & Edmonton aren't far apart). Just wondered if there was another entry on findmypast??

Enfield is in the district of Edmonton. George was born in the district of Edmonton.
I looked on findmypast but couldn't find anything that fitted.

Find My Past has him (at the same reference as Ancestry, of course!) for 1891. Edmonton is the registration district shown in the transcription; click through to the image and he's shown as born Enfield.
George's father George was a butcher in 1891. And there are 14 Lobbs on that page of the census!
