Looking for help on the I.O.W
« on: Saturday 27 October 07 14:09 BST (UK) »

I am looking for help with a family member who moved to the Isle-of-Wight in 1913/14ish. i know he married there and died there but i would love to know if there was an obituary in the press for him, where he is buried and if possible get a photo of the grave? I know it's a lot to ask but i am sure some one on here can fill in some bits for me.
Many thanks in advance

It's good to hear that people are looking for resources before posting. Grin

Brading is quite a small town but the parish is a good size and used to be much bigger.  I have a request oustanding about Brading (see somewhere below) because my ggggfr was buried there.

Hopefully someone local will now come out of the woodwork.  BTW I wrote to the vicar of Brading a few days ago - if you want to do so let me know and I'll give you his name and address.

Best of luck!

Hi,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news Sad but Brading Registration district was much bigger than Brading Parish,

http://www.isle-of-wight-fhs.co.uk/regdist.htm

If all else fails getting his death cert. should hopefully tell you where he lived.

Hello,
I live on the island but my knowledge of island research is very limited.
I have no family connections here and so am not sure if I can be
much use!
I will try to help if I can.    Undecided

Hello again,
The isle of wight fhs has people offering to do look-ups at
the record office so maybe that's worth a try.
