There is a record for an Alexander Scott born 1884 Washington Durham.

Hi stanmapstone i have alexander down as born 1881 does it not say anything more about him i have him on the 1901 at ramillies barracks farnborough hampshire age 18,

On his attestation, which was signed 13th August 1914, his age is given as 30 years 1 month. It also says that he had served in the Durham Light Infantry, time expired. It was not unknown for men to give the wrong age when signing up.
