I have a confirmed marriage of my 4 X great grandfather Aaron Alcock b. Circa. 1755 to Elizabeth Quiggin 04 SEP 1785 Saint James, Liverpool, Lancashire, England. To date I have not been able to find any parish record/parents for him.
Two possible sets of parents found on the IGI are Aaron Alcock to Margaret Beasley m. 1746 Farnsworth Near Prescot and Aaron Alcock to Tabitha Cotterill m. 1744 Prescot. How would I find the names of children for these two couples? I have also found an Aaron Alcock b. 1715 in Farnsworth s.o. Aaron Alcock and Maria Gatliffe but have no idea if he is one of the above or yet another Aaron - HELP PLEASE!!!
Regards,
Yvonne South Africa

Annie,
Thank you so much for these, will definitely keep on file. The other day I came across a DN that I filed away about 10yrs back and it turned out to be a brother to my greatgrandfather. He had upped sticks and left the UK for Oz and then to SA - following the Gold Rush. The strange thing was that he died in SA 2.10.1907 and I found his DN 2.10.2007!
Take care,
Yvonne.

Hi Annie,
I had another look at the Lancashire OPC Project website this morning, on the off chance that I might have missed something. I, once again, came across this entry (detailed below) which for sometime now I have had on the 'back-burner' as I had an idea that they might be possible parents for my Aaron * C. 1750 – 1755.
Marriage: 20 Aug 1746 St Wilfrid, Farnworth near Prescot, Lancashire, England Aaron Allcock - of Wiston Margaret Beasley - of Prescot Married by: Banns Register: Marriages 1744 - 1754, Page 10, Entry 118 Source: LDS Film 1655234 item 2
I also noticed on the IGI that the majority of the earlier Aaron's listed, all appear to come from the Prescot area. Am I right in saying that only St Wilfrid's has been transcribed on Lan-OPC and would you know if these transcriptions are complete?
I also found a further marriage on the IGI between Aaron Alcock and Maria Gatliffe (m.1710 Farnworth near Prescot – Parish?) who appear to have had a son (also Aaron) born in 1715 and wondered if he might not be the one who married Margaret Beasley.
Would you perhaps have access to any of the other parishes in the near vicinity? For instance, I see that the Aaron who married Margaret is ‘of Wiston’ and thought this might be a good starting point to find the record of my ‘ever elusive’ Aaron. Not being familiar with the area at all, I get somewhat confused trying to work out where one place is in relation to another or which parishes they contain.
I remember thinking when I found that my 2 X great grandfather's second name was Aaron ... okay, this should be a piece of pie ... something other than John with which to work! Like fun!!! These Aaron's have given me more problems than any of the multitude on John's I have in my tree.
Any suggestions gratefully accepted.
Yvonne S.A.

Thanks Annie,
Have done the whole Hugh Wallis thingy - every single parish in Prescot and nothing for Aaron. He must be in hiding, will just have to wait until he wants to be found.
Thanks so much for all you interest and advice.
Regards,
Yvonne
