 Undecided

I am trying to trace my Grandma and her brother all I know is that she worked in the Caverswall Potteries and her brother worked in the Hanley/Caverswall Mines, we have been led to believe they were Orphans, all I know is that Arthur Jones was still living in Caverswall in the 1950's and had a couple of children one was the local Butcher.  Arthur would have been born around 1890 and my Grandma Hannah Ann Jones around 1893 (if her DC is anything to go by) all I want is a lead to their "parents" or something.

Welcome to Roots  Grin

OK do you have Hannah Ann Jones marriage certificate?? Do you know who she married?? A small amount of extra information will be a great help, as if we know who she married we can hopefully find that and then you could apply for the marriage certificate, which would hopefully give you her father's name.

Same for Arthur. sorry all questions at the moment, but hopefully we can between us help you.

Thank you thats it you have found her - I was always told she was an orphan.

She married my Grand father John Joseph Kelly in late 1920 early 21 at I think either St Josephs Nechells Birmingham or Erdington Abbey (St Thomas and St Edmunds) Erdington Birmingham, I have her death cert and she was 66 in 1959 and she is buried at "The Abbey" Her marriage cert was destroyed by my Dad when he found out that he was conceived before they got married, I only found that out from my Mum a few weeks before she died in June.

I have only just started on this journey and it is very addictive, my Maternal side is easy as I have so many "family" historians I can go back to 1430 with no problems but Dads side is a mystery.
Thank you once again

Me again,

Looking at the ages of the parents the "Orphan" bit could be right, she is 7 and her father is 64 and her mother 50 so she could have been adopted/fostered/or whatever - I had a feeling she was born in Merionithshire (?sp) in Wales, but I wanted a start with her "parents" as there are so many H.A Jones.

Thanks again
