RE my previous post about a house called Dockenflat, which appeared in an old family album.

A genealogy contact passed on to me some info from her uncle who lived in the area.  He had told her that his great aunt's daughter had married Dave Kirkwood, farmer at Dockenflat.  Unfortunately, a great deal of his information was muddled and incorrect, but in talking about his great aunt Mary Bell and her children he seems to have got her confused with my great great grandma Fanny Bell (also related to him).  Huh 

So now I have a reason for Dockenflat being in the family album. Someone in my Bell family married a farmer who lived there.  Undecided

On the 1901 census Robert Kirkwood and family lived at Dockenflat (no Daves though).  It is possible that one of his children married one of my Bell family. I have searched Scotland's People, but if such a marriage happened it took place too late to appear on their records. 

Can anyone suggest any areas of research to resolve this mystery?

I've just been on to www.old-maps.co.uk. 

Do a search for Dockenflat Farm and lo and behold, you come up with only one.  Hopefully it's your one.

Have found some old family letters which tell me that Dockenflat was the home of Robina Bell and John Kirkwood and family.
