do you still need this information, I am going to the Berkshire Record Office this week, and will do the look up if you let me know.

Hi Newbie,

I would still like that information please.

James & Harriet would have married about 1820-1825, going by the records of the children born to them that I have found.
I have no idea who would be with them in 1851, but the children I have located are,
Stephen b 1825
Miriam b 1825
Daniel b 1827
Cornelius b 1829

Stephen is the one of particular interest to me. I know he married out here in 1856.
As yet I have not been able to locate his immigration records.
They are probably amongst the records that were disposed of at the time of Federation.
The records I have located, all tell me that James & Harriet lived in Reading

Whether Stephen & Miriam were twins, I don't know.
They may have just been bapt on the same day.

I really appreciate you doing this for me.

Cheers

Hi Geoff
I had a look for your Fisher's today, the 1851 has a name index for Berkshire, and I checked all the Fishers for you, I found a fair few that are close in age to James, Harriett, and Daniel, no Stephen  Miriam or Cornelius.
Problem - they are not residing in Reading area - they are in Newbury, Cookham, Hungerford, Shrivenham, Cholsey, Ilsley & Hendred.  These are all a fair distance from Reading. When you said Reading, Berkshire did you mean the general area or Reading - specific?
I'm not sure how long it will take me to look for all of them? do you have any more info - place of birth?
Happy to try again - going tomorrow and next week.
Newbie
Sorry if I sound confused first time I've used the 1851 census at Berkshire.

Hi Newbie,

I doubt you will find my Fisher family of interest. I'm even having doubts about the quality of information I have.

After receiving Stephen's marriage certificate {married Oct 1856 in NSW, Australia} I can't even corroborate the details as to his parents names.
According to his certificate he now becomes 10 years younger, 22 yrs old.
His wife is also shown as being 5 years younger, she is said to be 33yrs old at marriage, she was really 38 yrs old.

The recorded information is just not trustworthy.
The only constant is that it is always stated he was born in Reading, Berkshire.
Now though, I don't know if he was born in 1824 or anytime after that up to 1834.

I really think you should not worry about it, at least not until I can get more solid information.
I thank you for your efforts on my behalf though, it's really appreciated.

Cheers
